Sunset Spice Chili Oil - 6 oz jar

Our homage to the Sichuan tradition of chili oil, as re-imagined in the Outer Sunset neighborhood of San Francisco.

We start with the foundational oil of Sichuan cooking, caiziyou, also known as rapeseed oil, which we slowly infuse with a host of aromatics and spices. It is then poured over a combination of chilies, which creates a bubbling and sizzling transformation. The addition of sesame seeds, peanuts and salt rounds out our sunset spice. 

The resulting chili oil, with crispy chili flakes, is balanced and spicy in a way that reinforces flavors in food, rather then dominating them. It works on so many things...any rice or pasta dish, breakfast dishes, soups, sandwiches, pizza, etc. We think this will become a pantry staple for you like it is for us!

The jars are kept to the size we think you will go through while the spices and aromatics are still fresh. When it is gone, time to open a fresh one!
